The biggest win for my family in 2024 is our second grandchild, Jaxon! We also had milestone wedding anniversaries this year. Our daughter and son-in-law celebrated their 5-year anniversary, my son and daughter-in-law celebrated their 1-year anniversary, and my husband and I celebrated our 35-year anniversary.

I am grateful that we are all healthy and able to enjoy each day. I am proud to have been part of our amazing HIS Sign team for 13 years and especially proud of what our team has accomplished together! My goal for 2025 is to have more downtime and spend as much time with my grandchildren.

I am very lucky and appreciative to write that 2024 was a great year! Every time I reflect on the past year (and this is an amazing time to do so), I think of what I was able to do and where I was able to go. My family was fortunate enough to make our annual trip to Europe and then travel to Florida and Disney (in addition to many other small trips). We saw and spent time with friends and family on all these trips.

On a small personal note, this was the first year I coached our son’s soccer team, and I thoroughly enjoyed it; I even signed up to do it again in the spring. That was new to me, and nothing humbles you more than trying to take control of a dozen 10-year-olds and telling them how to play and what to do. Nevertheless, I am grateful to be in that position.

It’s not necessarily a regret, but each year I want to do more…but how much is more? There is a finite amount of free time to learn, exercise, relax, etc. I have found a good balance but am always open to new opportunities and adventures.

What will 2025 bring? I like to plan ahead, as it gives you something to look forward to, but I also think it is very important to live in the moment. Asking our kids if they want to do something, and hearing later…does not sit well with me. Seize the day as much as you can. You never know if you will have that same opportunity again!

2024 was extremely challenging because our team was migrating from eRSP to Usked, but I think the process taught us a lot. It could not have been accomplished without the entire HIS Sign Team, so I am grateful for this amazing HIS Sign Family! I am also grateful for my wife and son!

I also bought some interesting self-improvement books this past year and wish I had read them, but I guess this is now a 2025 plan 😊 My goals for 2025 are more self-care, going to the gym 3 times a week, and dedicating myself to my health journey. I also plan to travel a bit more with my family.

Kegan Moore | IT Coordinator

This has been a big year with many ups and downs, but it’s been a team effort to get us to where we are and confidently moving into 2025. We began this year with business as usual until our scheduling system provider went down for over 2 weeks without communication or assistance. However, this prompted us to move in a new direction, as HIS Sign had outgrown the old system and desperately needed a new one.

Our team banded together to plan and find a new system that met our requirements and would elevate HIS Sign to new heights and into a bright future. This overwhelming task has taken most of this year to overcome, and we have worked tirelessly to maintain the service standards that our interpreters and customers expect. The team accomplished this through long hours and perseverance, and I’m proud to have seen everyone move mountains to reach our goals. It has made this year one to remember.

My goals for 2025 will be to continue working on effective communication skills when presenting information to the team, navigating technical issues, and presenting insightful solutions to these issues. I can accomplish this by taking advantage of opportunities that allow me to speak on issues and topics I have prior experience and insight into.

I will also continue improving and building upon my education by earning certifications in areas that bolster my portfolio. I can accomplish this by utilizing online learning and resources, then leveraging opportunities (like projects) to learn how to solve issues as they present themselves.

2024 has been a great year with many changes in the Smith household. My youngest, Aidan, graduated from high school and is now a freshman at William and Mary. My oldest, Connor, is a senior at Brown and working hard to become a surgeon. We miss them dearly, but seeing what incredible young men they are becoming is pretty amazing. We look forward to our many family traditions while they are home for a long holiday break.

One of my goals for 2024 was to focus on taking better care of myself, and I’m happy to say that I’ve done a good job of it this year! Hoping to build on that in 2025 and be the healthiest version of myself I can be.

I’ve been part of the HIS Sign team for over 2 years. I am truly grateful to work with this incredible group of people. I look forward to seeing what we accomplish together in 2025.

My heart is full of gratitude as I reflect on this past year. While there have been many wonderful moments in my life, my appreciation isn’t limited to the good times—I recognize that life can change in an instant. I’m especially grateful for my loving husband of 19 years, amazing family, and incredible friends.

This year, we were bitten by the travel bug and had the opportunity to take our first trip to Europe—a highlight of our year. We visited Helsinki, Finland for a special convention and then explored Zurich, Switzerland, and Milan, Italy. The trip was an unforgettable experience that we’ll always treasure.

On the professional front, I truly appreciate the work-life balance that HIS Sign provides for our team. This support motivates me to show up every day and give my best. In the summer of 2023, I earned my Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and have been focused on sharpening my project management skills. Looking ahead to 2025, I’m eager to expand those skills further and help propel our team to the next level with exciting new projects.
