Real-time hash matching against NCMEC: Now in Magnet Griffeye products

About a year ago, we announced our partnership with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC)—the largest and most influential child protection organization in the U.S. Over the past year, we have collaborated to build a new information-sharing solution to support ICAC investigators across the U.S.

Today, we’re excited to launch the NCMEC GID, the first-ever solution for real-time hash matching against NCMEC data. This new database will transform how U.S. law enforcement professionals conduct CSAM investigations, enabling them to significantly increase their ability to identify critical evidence and ultimately safeguard victims.

NCMEC’s role in ICAC investigations

NCMEC operates the CyberTipline, the designated place in the U.S. for reports on suspected online child sexual exploitation. The CyberTipline received 32 million reports last year alone. NCMEC also runs the Child Victim Identification Program (CVIP). CVIP helps provide information concerning previously identified child victims and help locate unidentified child victims featured in sexually abusive images so that they may be identified and rescued. So far, more than 30,000 children are known to have been identified because of this program.

This means that NCMEC has an enormous repository of relevant data for ICAC investigations, containing known hash intelligence of CSAM. Efficient sharing of information between NCMEC and investigators is crucial for quickly identifying the most important data and safeguarding victims.

Introducing the NCMEC GID in Magnet Griffeye products

The new NCMEC GID, seamlessly built into Magnet Griffeye products, enables investigators across the U.S. to, for the first time ever, match against the latest NCMEC data in real time as they work through new cases.

  • Authorized U.S. law enforcement professionals can easily connect to the NCMEC GID containing all the latest information from NCMEC to effortlessly match against it in their cases.
  • The database will include NCMEC-verified data of known CSAM and is built into the Magnet Griffeye ecosystem of products, including Griffeye Advanced, Griffeye Operations, and Griffeye Enterprise.
  • Through real-time matching against this data, U.S. investigators will be able to get critical information quickly, aiding them in the identification and safeguarding of victims.

Streamlined workflows for prioritizing first-gen material

The integration of NCMEC’s existing file comparison tools into Magnet Griffeye will streamline investigator workflows and provide increased opportunities to identify critical evidence, prioritize first-generation material and safeguard victims from ongoing abuse.

The ability to share information and validate the data in their cases immediately will be a giant leap forward in empowering investigators to identify victims more quickly, process and solve more cases, and reduce their exposure to disturbing material. Experience the power of Griffeye with a free trial and discover the advantages of the new NCMEC GID!
