On March 31, 2025, the FCC’s Wireless Telecommunications Bureau (WTB), released a Public Notice seeking comment on a Petition for Rulemaking filed by CTIA – The Wireless Association.  The Petition requests that the FCC update its National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) rules to streamline wireless broadband deployment.  CTIA specifically asks that certain wireless facility deployments be exempt from being classified as “major federal actions” under NEPA and that the FCC establish clear timelines and predictable standards for environmental reviews.
